About Forrio
Forrio was born and raised on the island of St. Lucia. He lived in the rural part of the island. When he was about two years old his mother and father separated, leaving him with his maternal grandmother. His grandmother could not read and write and as such, he had very limited access to formal education. Coming from a poor family, education was not a priority and he fell behind in school and at times was held back. Being frustrated with school he joined the track team, where he learned something about himself that would serve him well for the rest of his life. At his first track meeting, being inexperienced, when forrio heard the gun he took off and left everybody behind, not realizing that running that distance required a strategy. As the experienced runners started closing the gap, forrio was tired, but he didn’t have any quit in his heart. All his efforts were to win the race and if he couldn’t win then at least finish the race. He lost the race by three steps, and found out that even though he had made so many mistakes, what was most important to him was not the silver medal but finishing the race he started. From that day on no matter what happened to forrio finishing what was started became very important to him. When he looked back at where he was/is and where he is going, to him it all started that day on the track where even though he was inexperienced, the drive to be a finisher and not a quitter was implanted.
Forrio’s whole life has always been about diversity. Growing up on an island with tourism, he was exposed to and came into contact with people from all over the world. This exposure allowed him to experience other cultures. Through this exposure he was left with an open mind and tolerance for human beings around the world and a better understanding about their struggles and survival.
The idea of Forrio clothing is to share the life experiences of forrio. The clothing is representative of the diversity that exists within the world we live in, regardless of class or creed. It's made for all people, and the people who wear it; it is a reflection of the diversity that exists.
Forrio is creating a movement with apparel. A movement that is at the heart of diversity, where through our love for clothing we can share with the world our belief in not giving up and at the same time being stylish with the apparel you wear. It’s a movement that believes that you should not let hate live in your heart and it is okay to fight a good fight for what’s right.
One of Forrio's future goals is to fight to put a stop to child slavery - that is still going on around the world - still today.
